Job Description

The Payroll supervisor will supervise day-to-day activities of Kaiser Permanente National Payroll staff and will be accountable for building and maintaining strong customer relationships between National Payroll Services and our customers.  Works closely with leadership to develop and support customer service programs. Implement tools to measure and track customer satisfaction.

 

Essential Functions:
* Promote a team environment and provide day-to-day oversight and guidance including coaching, professional development and training.
* Implement and maintain tools to measure customer satisfaction.
* Understand business systems/processes and update documentation using narrative &/or flowcharting techniques. 
* Perform special projects as required.
* Implement and monitor statistical reporting for Payroll Operations.
* Assesses information to identify the best solution from existing alternatives. Make recommendations for obtaining solutions to payroll issues.
* Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approach to assignments.
* Supervise Kaiser Permanente National Payroll Services' staff.
* Provide on -going coaching to team members, enabling them to develop and improve skills.
* Monitor compliance with state and union regulations.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
* 5 or more years payroll experience with 3 or more in a supervisory role.
* Experience working in a high volume, multi-state payroll environment.
* Customer Service/Call center experience.
* Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing demands & environment.
* Excellent verbal & written communication & presentation skills.
* Ability to persuade, articulate & defend positions.
* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access).
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, information systems or related field or an additional 4 years of equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working in a union environment.
* Health care experience.
* CPP designation.
